Tasting Notes: Kiwi, Fresh Berries, & Milk Chocolate
We all love a good chocolatey note in a coffee, but it's even better when complimented by the fruitiness possible in specialty coffee. This Ethiopian lot from the Limu region is the perfect pairing of the two! With notes of fresh berries and milk chocolate, the Kossa Geshe is balanced and exciting, perfect for all brew methods.
Kossa Geshe originates from Western Ethiopia by producer Abdul Nigusse Lemma. This farm is a part of a 1,000 hectare land grant made to the Nigusse Lemma family in 2009 by the Ethiopian government. The land grant was made to safeguard some of the last remaining dense forestland in the country. In 2016, Kossa Geshe won a Good Food Award for the excellent quality coffee produced on this land.
What is the Natural Process?
The Natural process is a sun-dried process that involves the drying of cherries whole without the additional use of any other materials, including water for washing or machines for depulping. (Hence the term "natural!) Before the coffee is dried, it is harvested from the trees, floated in water, then sorted to remove any fruits that are not up to standard. From there, the sun-drying begins.
