Why is this Indie Select a Sustainability Partner?
Brumas Montano is a Planeta Vivo certified regenerative farm. This award from the Costa Rican government honors sustainable, deforestation-free agricultural and livestock production. To receive this award, efforts must also demonstrate reduced use of agro-chemicals. Brumas Montano employs a rain collection system with ultraviolet purification, reuses the produced ash as compost, and measures the fertilizer to ensure zero-chemical use. Brumas invests in producing the healthiest possible coffee, free of any contaminants.
Process
Natural
What is the Natural Process?
The Natural process is a sun-dried process that involves the drying of cherries whole without the additional use of any other materials, including water for washing or machines for depulping. (Hence the term "natural!) Before the coffee is dried, it is harvested from the trees, floated in water, then sorted to remove any fruits that are not up to standard. From there, the sun-drying begins.
